Kraken Travel Launch Campaign

KRAKEN

In January 2017, Dewpoint Global Communications was appointed as directors of all launch activity for Kraken Travel, including Marketing Strategy, Brand Development, Partnerships, PR, Digital Marketing, Social Media, Content Creation and Advertising as they made their mark in the Travel industry. We developed a campaign to seamlessly integrate all areas through relevant and well researched content from January-April 2017.

Some of our press coverage for the Ski/Sail trips from Kraken.travel January 2017

Kraken curated an incredible selection of unique sailing trips for the modern adventurer, featuring hand-picked adventures from trusted independent operators. Kraken offer ski/sailing in Scandinavia and Iceland, Arctic Wildlife expeditions, and the world’s most remote music festival in Norway, giving us a wealth of content to inspire and motivated our potential consumers.

Dewpoint decided to create content geared toward an audience interested in adventure and exploration which would complement Kraken's adventure sailing trip roster. In February 2017 we interviewed Ricky Munday of the International Antarctic Survey prior to his first ascent of Mount Everest as part of our Kraken travel adventurer series for the Kraken newsletter and Youtube channel.

I hope in time that Kraken will become more than just a place to find your next exciting sailing trip and pick up all the tips you might need. I’d like to create a community – and that’s something you’ll certainly find on board a boat. Solo travellers, first-timers and experienced sailors alike build a real bond out there on the ocean, but more than anything else, it’s about life-affirming, enriching experiences.
— Henry Burkitt, Kraken Travel CEO

Dewpoint curated all content and copy writing for the fortnightly Kraken Newsletter between February-April 2017, aiming to grow their mailing list with relevant and enticing content. Please see gallery below for Newsletter content.

Formally known as Adventure Yachting, Kraken was founded by sailing enthusiast and qualified skipper, Henry Burkitt, in 2015 with the aim of creating a community of unique sailing experiences, unrivalled in the current market, to allow the nautically curious to embark on incredible trips unseen elsewhere and allow aspiring sailors to take part in voyages of all kinds, regardless of ability.

Dewpoint developed a social media content and advertising strategy across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to grow the audience for Kraken effectively with rich and relevant content.

Snooks reach £20K Kickstarter Goal

British female Ski & Snowboard brand, SNOOKS, have reached the £20K target of their Kickstarter campaign, after assessing and relaunching their original campaign.

Earlier in 2017, Snooks launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds to manufacture their W17/18 collection. After raising over £17K, they didn’t quite have enough time to reach their original goal and decided to review and relaunch their campaign in October. After a phenomenal response from the UK snow sports community, Snooks have now reached their goal and will receive £20K toward manufacturing their latest collection. It’s a tremendous achievement for this fledgling independent brand.

We are over the moon to reach our target and we are so thankful to those who’ve supported our campaign to make our W17 collection a reality! We can’t wait to get started on delivering all our rewards to those who’ve contributed.

— Sophie Kelly, Snooks Co-Founder

After our initial campaign gathered coverage in multiple snow sports media in the UK and North America, and upon relaunching their campaign in October 2017, went on to feature in Whitelines Buyers Guide 2017/18. Articles include coverage for their launch, subsequent relaunch and success upon reaching their goal. Click on the coverage above for links to the original pieces.

When I planned to sail to a tiny music festival off the coast of Norway from the comfort of my office in sunny Los Angeles, I had no idea what to expect. I couldn’t have anticipated the joy of camaraderie that comes from joining a crew to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Arctic. I felt entirely safe and had the option to be useful as part of the crew (or to relax with hot chocolate) under the lead of our captain, whose humble charm set a relaxed and fun vibe on the boat. Looking back on this trip gives me a feeling of accomplishment as well as humility and appreciation of the majestic beauty of the Arctic and the warmth and generosity of my shipmates. Highly recommended!

Snooks take home £20K Prize in Kickstart Competition

Dewpoint clients and British female Ski & Snowboard brand, SNOOKS, win £20,000 toward their business at prestigious awards ceremony.

The Snooks team were astonished to win a total of £20,000 at the prestigious Baldwins Accountants’ Kickstart Young Entrepreneurs Awards on Friday 11th November, after impressing over 500 business representatives with their future plans for the company.

Snooks founders, Sophie Kelly and Susie Beere will received £10,000 in cash for their business and £10,000 worth of mentoring and accounting advice from Baldwins Accountants, who set up the awards to support new businesses in the Leicester area and beyond.

he duo pitched their women’s outerwear brand to an audience of businesses from across the midlands region at the fourth annual KickStart awards held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. They beat off competition fin the final from two other young entrepreneurs after succeeding against 10 other companies in the semi-finals.

This prize is about so much more than the investment. It’s about the belief and support provided by the business owners who voted for us here, and further afield. We have that belief ourselves and now we want to share it with those interested in the progress of Snooks by really taking this British female brand to the next level.
— Sophie Kelly, Snooks Co-Founder

Snooks is the first British ski and snowboard outerwear brand designed exclusively for women, by women, created to revive the female winter wear market. Co-founded in 2014 by Kelly and Beere whilst studying at Loughborough University, Snooks have challenged the often discussed ‘pink it and shrink it’ approach found in the female sports market, and created the Winter 2016 ‘Reviver Range’ as a refreshing antithesis.

As experienced winter sports enthusiasts, we noticed the provision for menswear is vast and varied. We felt there is currently no brand from Britain adequately presenting female skiers and snowboarders with attractive AND functional clothing. It is proven Women often buy men’s winter wear due to the lack of well-fitting, stylish options currently available in women’s ranges. We hope to shake up the market and provide women with outerwear that really fits them without using gender stereotypical colours and designs.
— Susie Beere, Snooks Co-Founder

Founded in 2014, Kelly and Beere set about researching and developing their products upon graduation from Loughborough University. As well as their latest win with Baldwins Accountants, Snooks has gained significant recognition elsewhere, with the team winning a ‘Leicester Mercury Women in Business award for New Business of the Year’ and the Leicester Mercury Business Executive Awards for Young Business Person of the Year.

Women in Board and Action Sports

We had a phenomenal response to our campaign to promote the annual Women in Board and Action Sports conference in Barcelona. A cross section of action sports media including skateboarding, surfing, and snow sports, covered the details of the event in order to drive awareness of the volunteer organisation, boost sales and attendance, plus raise social capital across multiple channels. Our work was published in Spanish to reach a local audience, as well as incorporating a targeted advertising strategy on Facebook in addition to our press coverage in English.

We aimed to publicise the event in a timely fashion in order to push sales as well as awareness of the volunteer organisation.

Aimed at Women who have a passion for board and action sports, from those who work in the industry and have an interest in all things board focused to those who just want to meet like-minded people who love the outdoors, the WIB conference is a weekend dedicated to board and action sports in every sense and will be presented on the beautiful beaches of Barcelona. Previous events in Munich, Saas Fee and Biarritz have brought together a powerhouse of female action sports enthusiasts from all over the world and Barcelona 2016 is set to be the most action packed yet!

WIB is a volunteer organisation devoted to supporting, educating and inspiring women in the board and action sports industry. Since 2009, WIB has created platforms where women can meet, interact and share ideas, promote projects and find like minded people.

WIB also operate annual international events where the attending women can personally meet each other, network, learn new skills and get inspired. The WIB lunch at ISPO Munich exists to keep the community alive and give the attendees a chance to catch up and meet new people.WIB promotes and encourages new projects, ideas, entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector.  This organization is run entirely on a volunteer basis with the sole desire of making a positive impact on the action sports industry.

Richard Smith, Ongosa Founder

We cannot recommend Denis highly enough. He’s a great skier and a fantastic teacher who genuinely finds passion helping others and improving their technique. It’s rare to find someone at that level with the patience and ability to work with beginners. I found Ongosa simple, intuitive, responsive and would recommend to anyone.
— Ongosa Client, Ben Fenby, January 2016

Developed by Richard Smith (pictured above) in 2014, Ongosa was born from his love of the mountains and his desire to enhance the mountain sport experience for everyone, creating a facility to make snow sports more accessible for all.

Richard says “We believe the right local & technical knowledge enhances the adventure sports experience. Ongosa is dedicated to cultivating a community of professionals and enthusiasts to provide a unique service available to all. We aim to provide a straightforward facility to find and book the right instructor with ease”

Ongosa have built a community of mountain sport professionals with expert knowledge, experience and skill in order to directly improve the experience of snow sport addicts looking into their next adventure.

I was looking for a ski-touring guide in the French Alps during the Easter week and was told by ESF and 2 other ski schools that I was ‘too late’ and no one was available. The team at Ongosa worked hard to find me an independent guide and hooked me up with Marco – who proved to be excellent.
— Ongosa Client, Bill Sneed, April 2016

We think everyone should have the opportunity to meet these elite specialists, especially as many of them make a living out of guiding or teaching, but survive on reputation and word-of-mouth. Ongosa has set out on a mission to make adventure sports more accessible, by connecting people who have shared interests in learning and teaching, guiding and exploring.
— Richard Smith, Ongosa Founder

In addition, Ongosa provide rich and relevant articles, advice and discussions on all things in the mountains, curated directly from their pool of resident experts. Mini Documentary - Snowboard Banked Slalom at Big White Ski Resort

The Neil Edgeworth Memorial Banked Slalom takes place at Big White Ski Resort in March each year, with competitors of all ages & levels heading up to the resort for a whole weekend dedicated to snowboarding.

A real community and family event, the Neil Edgeworh is a highlight of the season at Big White and I joined them last year to make a mini documentary on how the competition came about, and the people who come back every year to take part.

I was a member of the Big White TELUS Park & Outdoor Events team in 2013 when I first entered the banked slalom competition. I was so nervous as I took off from the start gate, that I immediately missed the first post and was instantly disqualified. This incident formed the basis for my film, as I returned to Big White in March 2015 to claim retribution for my failure and to tell the story of how the Annual Neil Edgeworth Memorial Banked Slalom came about. It really is such a brilliant event, unique to the resort, and a perfect example of Big White's family and community focused hospitality.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this film, and to Flynn Seddon, BC Snowboard and Big White Ski Resort for allowing me to be part of this amazing event.

Christmas

IMG_8655.jpg

As of today, I've officially wrapped up my working year for 2015 and wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all my clients, former colleagues and friends who have supported me in my first year of business, and wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I've learnt many lessons this year, and will have many more to come but the ability to adapt, speak the truth, make the most of every opportunity and follow my instincts have been my guiding forces throughout 2015. Above all however, I am sincerely grateful for the support and guidance I've received from such an abundance of wise and experienced mentors. I have often been overwhelmed with how much encouragement and confidence you've shown in me, and hope I can, in time, return the favour.

The Airwave

THE AIRWAVE

Revolutionary new snow and action sport communication system

September 2015 has seen the first stage of investment for The Airwave go live on Indiegogo. We're heading up the PR for this campaign and will be inviting relevant press, retail, associated brands and mountain sports enthusiasts to invest in the next phase of development for this innovative communication technology. We've already had a strong response from the action sport press and the campaign is steadily gaining momentum.

AirwavePR5.jpg

Device and Technology

The Airwave is a Media Player app and Bluetooth-enabled hardware that integrates the power of a walkie-talkie with your phone wirelessly, allowing you to communicate and listen to music from a single pair of earphones. Just load the app, plug in your earphones, select a track, and hit the slopes. You can then transmit audio over the radio by speaking into the microphone on your earphones. Whenever someone else transmits, your music will temporarily pause, playing their voice to your earphones. It can be used anywhere on the mountain, at full range, without mobile signal or Data roaming. Because it’s wireless, you can store the walkie-talkie and Airwave in a pocket or backpack and not have to touch it all day.

To keep up with their campaign on Indiegogo, follow The Airwave on Facebook, Twitter or their website www.airwave.co.uk

“We created the Airwave so that we could ski and snowboard to music whilst riding in a group, without sacrificing communication. We’ve tested the technology internationally in all conditions and we’re really excited about how well the device is progressing. We can’t wait to move forward with the next stage of development and share The Airwave with skiers and boarders the world over.”
— The Airwave CEO and founder Rob Wheatley

The 'I Mean Business' Trip—Pacific Northwest Canada and USA

Two months ago, a set of circumstances came about that were less than ideal. It would've been all too easy to languish in my misfortune. Thankfully, due to the incredible support of my amazing family and friends, I was encouraged to use my circumstances as advantageously as possible and flew out to Canada and the Pacific Northwest USA for a month long research trip. I also planned to enter the 18th Neil Edgeworth Snowboard Memorial Banked Slalom at Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia and film a mini documentary on my experience.

I have managed to cover over 2000kms, and had the privilege of spending time with my excellent friends and meeting some incredible new people who've helped me on my way. I'll now be helping to grow Bestdayever.me—a charity and apparel company based in the USA, helping people make the best of each day and educating communities - more on that soon.

My trip is about to come to and end and I just wanted to express gratitude to the outstanding hub of people who have rallied around me, had my back, supported everything I do and really helped me out. Without my family and friends back home in the UK who helped fire me up and give me the confidence to get on the plane and get this done I wouldn't even have made it to Gatwick. To all my North American friends and relatives who've given me a place to stay, got me a ski pass, hooked me up with an incredible meal, taken me to amazing new places I've never been before, inspired me, sorted my head out, helped me film, filmed for me, helped my confidence and generally rallied around to make sure I'm OK, I couldn't have done any of this without your love and support. To my brand new and unexpected friends I've made on this trip. I can't believe I'm so lucky to have such inspiring and loving souls add even more to this experience!

A reminder that if there is something toxic in life, it needs to go, no matter what the circumstances.  What I am so grateful for is that when life does wobble off into a direction thats outwith my control, I have the love and support of an enormous crew of humans who want nothing but to champion me and make sure I'm loved and safe. I am in awe of the support I've received this last little while. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You so much. I promise I'll make the most of it and pay it back in bucket loads!

Next step, get back to London, get editing and see what sense I can make out of what I've made so far! Every day can be your Best Day Ever if you want it to!!

Much love to all, Claire xxxx

Capita Stay Bad Ass premiere

The Capita Stay Bad Ass Premiere UK Tour rolled into town in November with the full team in attendance couretesy of The Riders Lounge UK. The legendary Scott StevensBrandon CocardPhil Jacques and Dustin Craven turned up in London on an enormous Monster Energy tour bus after travelling the length of the UK, taking in a whole host of indoor snow domes. Capita UK team rider and all round legend Rio Peterson made the wee trip from the highlands to help get the party started and the evening kicked off with a full signing session before the film started.   Scott Stevens individual technique and famous one-footed snowboard tricks are somewhat famous now and this latest edit from Capita doesn't disappoint. Some of Phil Jacques lines are incredible, and the street sections of the full team are extremely entertaining.

Factory Media Client Ski Trip

Claire Dewar assisted in the set up of Factory Media's trip to The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead. Specially selected members of key clients and agencies were invited along to take part in what Factory Media does best- brings action sports to the masses!

Over 70 people attended the event, ranging from beginners on their first lessons, to experienced shredders getting their indoor dome fix and getting some Jaeger bombs on the go!

Claire was on site to make sure branding, merchandise and, most importantly, catering was in place before all our guests arrived, plus got a few laps in herself!

John Doe Friendly, Les Arcs, France—Photo Shoot by Paul Fosbury

In the last week of the season 2014 and Claire helped award winning photographer Paul Fosbury  set up a shoot in the park in Les Arcs, France. The park crew happened to be putting on a snowboarder event called the John Doe Friendly so Paul managed to get some great shots of some brilliant riders. The snowboarder only event followed the B&E Inventational the week before which saw some of Europe's finest Freeskiers thrown down at the creatively designed course at Arc 1800.

I had the pleasure of working with Claire in Les Arcs shooting The John Doe Snowboarding Event. Very impressed with her excellent media skills, Claire has great ability to make things happen on the most challenging of locations.

Claire is fabulous to work with and creates an effective happy team around her.
She has extensive experience in delivering creative public relations, adept marketing talent and an awesome snowboarder to shred with.

I highly recommend Claire and look forward to working with her soon.
