I've come a long way since starting out in the Snow sports industry, both figuratively and literally. Having only learnt to Snowboard in 2009 at an indoor slope in the UK, I boosted my skills on holiday in Val D'Isere, France. Later that year in 2010, I flew to New Zealand for my first season at Lake Ohau Lodge and Snowfields, a genuine contender for one of the most beautiful places on earth - not to mention incredible snow and terrain!
On my return to the UK, I managed to score the role as Marketing and Events Coordinator for SNO!zone Scotland (now Snow Factor), incidentally where I took my very first Snowboarding lesson!
For almost 2 years, I enjoyed being part of snow sports event, promotion and marketing in the UK working with an incredible nationwide team. We not only produced snowsports competitions and events at our slopes, but we took our real snow out in the summer for all manner of bespoke events.
Now I'm in Canada, and this place is INCREDIBLE. I live at Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia working as part of the Outdoor Events Team. We produce freestyle skiing and snowboarding events across all disciplines and for all levels of ability. Big White has a reputation for having one of the best terrain parks in all of North America maintained by one of the most dedicated Park teams in the industry. Check out TELUS Park right or join the Big White TELUS Park facebook page to keep in touch with us over the 2012/13 season. It's Big White's 50th Anniversary so this winter is special! We had a great Christmas and New Year and now we're looking forward to kicking 2013 off in style!
One of our first events was World Snowboard Day on 30th December 2012 where, despite a power outage at TELUS Park, we managed to put on some tunes, some competitions and gave away a whole heap of snowboard related stuff and things. (just FYI- that's my board at the front there - A Space Metal Fantasy Capita board and it's AWESOME)
