SNOOKS Launch Kickstarter campaign with phenomenal support

SNOOKS Women's wear have launched a Kickstarter campaign to develop their business into the coming year, with incredible support from the snow sports community, reaching over 15% of their target reached in less than 24hrs.

British female Ski & Snowboard brand, SNOOKS, have launched the next stage in their company investment strategy via entrepreneurial website Kickstarter from 4th July 2017.

Winner’s of Baldwins Accountants’ Kickstart Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2016, ‘Leicester Mercury Women in Business award for New Business of the Year’ and Member of the Studio – Graduate Commercialisation Hub at Loughborough University, SNOOKS has seen outstanding growth since their launch in 2014. This is in no small part to the incredible work ethic, vision and drive of Company Founders, Sophie Kelly and Susie Beere, who head up their UK based operation.

Their Kickstarter campaign is the next stage of developing their company in order to increase production, product research, manufacturing and distribution of their products across Europe with all contributors to the campaign gaining exclusive access to a range of high-quality SNOOKS rewards including limited edition Hoodies, T-shirts and first reserves on their Winter 17/18 collection before it hits the shops.

Snooks is the first British ski & snowboard clothing brand dedicated solely to women. We’re out to encourage more girls into challenging themselves in snow and action sports, as well as life and we try to reflect that ethos in our brand and in every product we make. Our Kickstarter is designed to put our customers at the forefront of how SNOOKS develops in the coming months and years and we’re so excited to see the results.
— Susie Beere, Snooks Co-Founder

SNOOKS have continued to gain momentum since their award winning streak throughout Winter 2016, supporting snow focused events in the UK and Europe and sponsoring up and coming winter athletes Thea Fenwick and Angelica Sykes to grow their brand internationally. As avid Snowboarders and Skiers themselves, the SNOOKS team absorb the mountain environment and know precisely how their product should look and feel for their customers.

We believe women deserve products that are a true reflection of them, not for the stereotypes of women. Snooks is a brand founded and run by women who snowboard & ski. We understand what women want, expect and need in their gear. So we strive to create outerwear that fits exceptionally. Our outerwear is made in the UK to a very high standard of quality and technical performance, because we know ONLY the best will do.”

he duo pitched their women’s outerwear brand to an audience of businesses from across the midlands region at the fourth annual KickStart awards held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. They beat off competition fin the final from two other young entrepreneurs after succeeding against 10 other companies in the semi-finals.

This prize is about so much more than the investment. It’s about the belief and support provided by the business owners who voted for us here, and further afield. We have that belief ourselves and now we want to share it with those interested in the progress of Snooks by really taking this British female brand to the next level.
— Sophie Kelly, Snooks Co-Founder

Snooks is the first British ski and snowboard outerwear brand designed exclusively for women, by women, created to revive the female winter wear market. Co-founded in 2014 by Kelly and Beere whilst studying at Loughborough University, Snooks have challenged the often discussed ‘pink it and shrink it’ approach found in the female sports market, and created the Winter 2016 ‘Reviver Range’ as a refreshing antithesis.

As experienced winter sports enthusiasts, we noticed the provision for menswear is vast and varied. We felt there is currently no brand from Britain adequately presenting female skiers and snowboarders with attractive AND functional clothing. It is proven Women often buy men’s winter wear due to the lack of well-fitting, stylish options currently available in women’s ranges. We hope to shake up the market and provide women with outerwear that really fits them without using gender stereotypical colours and designs.
— Susie Beere, Snooks Co-Founder

Founded in 2014, Kelly and Beere set about researching and developing their products upon graduation from Loughborough University. As well as their latest win with Baldwins Accountants, Snooks has gained significant recognition elsewhere, with the team winning a ‘Leicester Mercury Women in Business award for New Business of the Year’ and the Leicester Mercury Business Executive Awards for Young Business Person of the Year.

As of today, I've officially wrapped up my working year for 2015 and wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all my clients, former colleagues and friends who have supported me in my first year of business, and wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I've learnt many lessons this year, and will have many more to come but the ability to adapt, speak the truth, make the most of every opportunity and follow my instincts have been my guiding forces throughout 2015. Above all however, I am sincerely grateful for the support and guidance I've received from such an abundance of wise and experienced mentors. I have often been overwhelmed with how much encouragement and confidence you've shown in me, and hope I can, in time, return the favour.
